Bakia Quartet is a contemporary improvisation group that presents improvised live scores to classic and contemporary silent films. As well as collaborating with other creative mediums including dance and theater. The series of silent film performances Bakia Quartet holds, flow seamlessly between musical performance and incidental music surrounding the projection of films from classic directors such as Chaplin, Dalí, Duchamp, Man Ray, Méliès and others. Rooted in surrealism and leaning towards avant-garde, Bakia Quartet’s performances blend musical genre and works with other mediums such as film to allow both the music and the film to be viewed anew and re-imagined.
